Founded by Charles Malville Hays, general manager of Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Was incorporated on March 10 in 1910. Originally planned for having berthing facilities for large ships, and develop into a major tourism industry, but the plan fail as Charles perished on the RMS Titanic. Later on fishing and forestry became the city's major industry. On 1947, pulp mill was added to PR's industries. Then later on grain and coal shipping terminals followed. Through the years 1960s to 1990s Prince Rupert slowly turned from a small town into a small city. Prince Rupert is now the land, air, water hub of BC. It have the closest North America port to Asia, which provides huge advantage to the province's resources transport and goods shipping.
